Small Dome Lamp in Porcelain

It starts off with 3kg of clay for the top and bottom of the lamp. White stoneware for the bottom, and porcelain for the top. Thrown on the potters wheel the bottom is left to dry overnight and trimmed, smoothed and fitted together the next day. It's during this process that the fit is adjusted and the correct diameter holes are drilled for the light socket and integrated switch. The top of the ceramic fabric lamp is made with a slab of clay, dried slightly and carefully placed to form the fabric look. As they slowly dry in the studio they are shuffled around so they can dry evenly. After a couple of weeks they are loaded into the kiln and fired to 2160 degrees fahrenheit. The lamps are then removed and bottoms sanded smoothed.

Each piece is handmade and thus there may be small differences piece to piece.
